Matt Doran, Project Manager and Web Editor
Matt Doran is the Project Manager and Web Editor of TeachingColumbus.org. Matt is responsible for all of the web design and editing at Teaching Columbus. He also authored the Making Connections: Columbus and the American Experience project and constructed the Historic Sites Archive. In his other life, Matt is the High School Social Studies Coordinator for Columbus City Schools. He holds a B.A., summa cum laude, in history and a Master's degree in Social Studies Education, both from the Ohio State University. He is also completing an M.A. in American History at Ashland University.
Karen Fiedler, Curriculum Consultant and Contributing Editor
Karen Fiedler is a curriculum consultant and contributing editor to TeachingColumbus.org. She is the co-writer of the Columbus Neighborhoods Lessons. Karen is the K-8 Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator and the Distance Learning/Adobe Connect Coordinator for Columbus City Schools. She also serves as the Southeast Regional Representative for the Ohio Council for the Social Studies Board. Karen received a Master's degree in Elementary Education from The Ohio State University and Master's degree in Educational Administration from The University of Dayton. She holds Ohio teacher certification in grades 1-8, principal certification in grades K-12, and the Educational Technology endorsement.
Doreen Uhas Sauer, Lead Historian
Doreen Uhas Sauer is the Lead Historian for Teaching Columbus.org. She authored A History of Columbus Schools: 1812-1912 and was a co-writer of the Columbus Neighborhoods in the Classroom lessons. Doreen is currently the Director of the History Speaks Teaching American History program. She previously directed the Columbus Annenberg Civic Education Model. A long-time urban educator in Columbus, Doreen taught English and History at Indianola Jr. High School and Ft. Hayes Arts & Academic High School and was awarded the Ohio Teacher of the Year in 2004. She is the Past President of the Columbus Landmarks Foundation and the co-author of five books on the history of Columbus: Columbus: Then and Now; The Ohio State University Neighborhoods; Historic Columbus Taverns; On This Day in Columbus, Ohio History; andColumbus Neighborhoods. Doreen's seemingly endless supply of historical documents from Columbus history will keep the Teaching Columbus web editor busy for years to come.
